Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement is responsible for enforcing ordinances that regulate zoning, substandard structures, high weed, etc. When the code enforcement officer identifies a violation, the property owners will be notified about the violation by mail, property stakes, or in person. Certain types of complaints have a specific process that is required by law to be followed. Each case demands time and attention that includes a follow up inspection to verify compliance. Certain cases require a lien to be filed against the property or municipal court action. The City of George West's mission is to be a community working together to provide an exceptional quality of life. In support of that mission this webpage was designed to inform property owners and tenants of some of the most common code violations within our city. We invite you to review this information and contact the Code Enforcement Division if there are any questions as to how these standards apply to your property. We have also included a section to report any possible violations you would like us to investigate. Working together responsibly we can provide a great quality of life for all of George West residents. Click here to download the Referral to Code Compliance.
