The City of George West operates under a home rule charter adopted in 1980 that authorizes the council-manager form of municipal government. The City Council is comprised of a Mayor and four council members who are elected at large. The City Manager is employed by the City Council, executes the laws and administers the government of the City within the limitations prescribed in the City Charter. George West is a small rural community, where its citizens live in a safe, secure and healthy environment Mission Statement The mission of George West city government is to provide quality municipal services that protect and promote public health, safety, and welfare in accordance with the community’s values and priorities.
